Thank You

Thank you to the members of Concordia who were able to donate to the Reformation treat bags for the children of Concordia. We’d also like to thank a Thrivent member for using an Action Team to sponsor the event. We were able to purchase Reformation books and a few others goodies to put in some of the bags. We were even able to let the kids take some of the extra candy to their friends.

I loved being able to distribute them and drop off the bags to families who weren’t in church that Sunday. Part of the reason was I got all of the thanks for doing this. I’m the one who got the texts saying thank you or a special “Bible” from a thankful child. In reality, I wasn’t the one who did it. This was something from all of the members at Concordia. I didn’t even put the bags all together by myself. There were people who helped assemble the bags. Once again, thank you to everyone who helped put together these special bags for the children.

Hopefully, you’re able to see some of the pictures below and read some of the “thank yous” parents sent.

I love seeing how something so small can have such a big impact. Think about it: Receiving one piece of candy, snack, or toy is often exciting to a child. Receiving a mini mountain of those things is REALLY exciting. Saying something small to a child like, “I’m glad to see you here,” “How can I pray for you,” “How is school,” “Did anything exciting happen this week,” “What is something you’re looking forward to,” or other things is a simple way to show care to someone. When someone hears those questions from many people, they start to realize how much those people care about them.

Those are questions anyone in our church can ask children, adults, or visitors. I loved seeing the tangible way our congregation showed love to our children. What about being able to ask each other some of these questions so we can continue to show love to each other? These simple ways to show love and care matter to people more than we realize.

Once again, THANK YOU to everyone who showed love to the children of our congregation. I know my children loved it and many of the children in our congregation loved it as well.

“Just picked CHILD up, and CHILD says thank you for the bag of goodies! CHILD says prayer request is for good health of family and friends.”

“CHILD also says thank you, and, and prayer request is also that everyone stays healthy!”

Above is a “Bible” that was made for us to share with others from a thankful child.

Above is a thankful child working on one of the books from the bag.

“Thanks for all the goodies today for the kids!! They were so happy and excited to get treats!!!”
